The position involves copy-editing of technical manuscripts for clarity and consistency with our in-house journal style. Candidates will additionally be required to oversee the journal production process and to liaise with authors, academic editors and the production team to ensure that articles are published in print and online in a timely manner.

Applicants should have excellent writing and interpersonal skills, and the ability to work to deadline. The position requires high attention to detail as well as strong computer skills, with knowledge of InDesign and Mac OS a plus. Prior scientific copy-editing experience is preferred but not essential.

This a full-time position based in London.

Candidates will additionally be required to work closely with the research community to acquire, manage and develop new editorial content.

Minimum qualifications are a PhD in the life sciences, with additional postdoctoral or other experience preferred. Ideal candidates will have a strong scientific background and excellent writing, organizational and interpersonal abilities. A high level of computer literacy is also essential, with knowledge of InDesign and Mac OS a plus. Prior experience in publishing or an editorial position is an advantage but not a requirement.

System Administrator with Software Engineering skills required to join IT department of Spandidos Publications, a leading publishing group in the biomedical sciences that publishes eight journals.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the maintenance and operation of the company's network infrastructure, office interconnection, intranet servers and router, backup procedures, data sycnhing / replication, fault tolerance, task automation, etc.

The successful candidate will also participate in the development of the company's web application (http://www.spandidos-publications.com) that enables users to search, read and purchase research articles, create personal accounts, receive newsletters and submit manuscripts, along with the admin panel functionalities.

Knowledge of linux/unix administration is required, as well as background in Java and J2EE web applications deployment.

• Unix / Linux system administration
• Experience with command line tools and scripting languages (shell scripting, perl, python, etc.)
• Database Administration (preferably MySQL)
