Commissioning Editor:

As a Commissioning Editor for Spandidos Publications, you will be responsible for ensuring that our journals are the best in their fields by commissioning high-quality articles in order to maximize subscription revenues and enable the company to maintain its current high standards. This process will involve handling content administration both pre- and post-acceptance, and corresponding with other editors, authors and internal colleagues, so a successful candidate must be able to amass new contacts while maintaining existing working relationships.

The other main element of this role is editorial development. Strong writing skills and a high-level of computer literacy are essential to ensure that submitted manuscripts are set up, proofread and copy-edited to the in-house journal style. As a commissioning editor, you must be able to switch easily between commissioning and copy-editing duties, and possess the flexibility to engage in other independent tasks.

The minimum qualification for this position is a degree in the life sciences, with knowledge of Mac OS a plus. Training in scientific copy-editing will be provided, however, prior experience would be an advantage. This role requires that you are able to work unsupervised and produce tangible results, even under pressure.

This is a full-time position with a friendly and established company that publishes high-quality scientific articles both online and in print. Benefits include a competitive starting salary, with scope for increase based on performance, and the opportunity for further career advancement.

This a full-time position based in London.
