Physician Doctorate, International Doctorate in Translational Biomedicine. Researches on pathophysiology and clinical aspects for vascular diseases, particularly on the relationship between chronic diseases (as type 2 diabetes , arterial hypertension) with peripheral or carotid arterial diseases. Professor Signorelli, focused researches on relationship between cellular activation with hemodynamic disorder of venous and arterial circulation. These researches were addressed to highlight on the role played by white blood cells, inflammatory biomarkers such as cytokines and integrines in pathophysiology of haemodynamic unbalance of venous circle ( i.e. venous stasis in varicose veins, venous thromboembolism) and of arteries of lower limbs (peripheral arterial disease).Professor Signorelli, performed researches also to highlight effects of oxidative stress originated by haemodymanic dysfunction, close relationship with atherosclerotic plaques and he demonstrated the relationship between aldheyde generation derived from the oxidative stress with damage of carotid and peripheral arteries. Moreover, professor Signorelli researched on prevalence and frequency of peripheral arterial disease in general population. He evaluated also effect of medical treatment on clinical, hemodynamic and metabolic disorders, he studied the positive effects of drugs for peripheral arterial disease (as propionil-L-carnitine, statin, anti thrombotic drugs) on critical limb ischemia, on walking performance and on efficacy of the drug against cellular disorders and inflammatory agents release in bloodstream. He studied vascular consequences due to female sexual hormone or its lowering in postmenopause on arterial three and focused attention on prevention of these consequences by substitutive therapy and on lipid and lipoproteic metabolism and on hypertension also in postmenopausal women. Professor Signorelli, carried out studies concerning relationship between environmental disarrangement, air pollution, transition metals with acute or chronic venous thrombotic diseases. He published to date more than 250 papers both in national and international scientific journals.
