Short Bio
  • Dr M.W. Roomi has a Ph.D. in Biochemical Toxicology from the University of Surrey, England. He is certified by the American Board of Toxicology (DABT) and is a Fellow of the American College of Nutrition (FACN). He has worked with renowned scientists such as Alfred Treibs (TH, Munich, Germany), DV Parke (University of Guildford, Surry, England) and E. Farber (University of Toronto, Canada). Dr Roomi held the position of Senior Scientist at the Rath Research Institute in Santa Clara, California. At the Institute he heads the Cancer Division. In connection with the ambitious charter of achieving a ʻworld without diseaseʼ, Dr Roomi seeks to determine whether micronutrients are indeed capable of inhibiting cancer cell growth or inducing the selective killing of these cells without affecting healthy cells. Over the years, Dr Roomi has pioneered scientific research into new ways of blocking cancer cell growth, invasion and metastasis using natural micronutrient combinations specifically developed for fighting more than 50 human cancer cell lines. This novel approach to cancer treatment has shown significant promise and has garnered Dr Roomi and the Institute world-wide recognition. Dr Roomi served as a Toxicologist at the United States Environmental Protection Agency. At the San Francisco EPA office, Dr Roomi used his considerable knowledge in Toxicology to review and set policy for the import and export of pesticides, FIFRA, Enforcement, Case development and Section 7 case tracking. Dr Roomi also worked at the Linus Pauling Institute in Palo Alto, California for a number of years as a Senior Research Scientist. It was at the Pauling Institute, where he was instrumental in collaborating with the other international research scientists (Germany, England, Italy, Japan, China amongst others) to further the results of nutritional biochemistry of Vitamin C, free radical damage and the prevention of cancer by antioxidants. Dr Roomi's leadership and insights are helping to propel the research breakthroughs in the area of Cellular Medicine. Dr Roomi has enjoyed a expansive body of work and responsibilities. His research interests include cancer, drug metabolism, environmental and occupational toxicology, organic synthesis, the molecular mechanism of toxicology and free radical and oxidative damage, chemical carcinogenesis, cancer treatment and chemoprevention. Dr Roomi has published 250 papers in international journals and has presented at over 200 national and international meetings. He has written several book chapters and authored several popular articles. In addition to this, he is on the editorial board of several national and international scientific journals. He is a member of American Association of Cancer Research (AACR), the Federation of American Society of Experimental Biology (FASEB), The Society of Toxicology (SOT) and the American Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP).
