Solid tumors represent a highly heterogeneous group of malignancies in which morphology, molecular alterations, tumor microenvironment, immune contexture and clinical behavior are deeply interconnected. In recent years, the integration of molecular pathology, next generation sequencing, epigenetic profiling, transcriptomics, proteomics, liquid biopsy and artificial intelligence based approaches has substantially refined tumor classification, prognostic stratification and therapeutic decision making. This Special Issue aims to provide a broad and multidisciplinary overview of the molecular characterization of solid tumors, with particular emphasis on diagnostic, prognostic and predictive biomarkers, mechanisms of tumor progression, molecular heterogeneity, treatment resistance and the translation of molecular findings into precision oncology. Contributions may address common and rare solid malignancies, including carcinomas, sarcomas, melanocytic tumors, central nervous system tumors and pediatric solid tumors. Original research articles, reviews, systematic reviews, meta analyses, short communications and clinically oriented translational studies are welcome. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to, molecular classification of solid tumors, genomic and epigenomic biomarkers, immuno oncology markers, liquid biopsy, tumor microenvironment, digital pathology, artificial intelligence assisted biomarker assessment, mechanisms of resistance to targeted and immune therapies, and the clinical implementation of molecular testing in routine diagnostic practice. By bringing together basic, translational and clinicopathological perspectives, this Special Issue seeks to highlight how molecular characterization can improve diagnostic accuracy, risk stratification, patient selection and personalized treatment strategies across solid tumors.
