The tumor microenvironment (TME) is a dynamic and heterogeneous ecosystem that shapes tumor initiation, progression, metastasis, immune evasion and therapeutic response across cancer types. Interactions among malignant cells, immune populations, stromal cells, extracellular matrix, vasculature and soluble mediators generate context-dependent programs that influence disease biology and clinical outcome. This Special Issue aims to bring together original research and review articles that deepen our understanding of the TME and accelerate its translation into clinically meaningful biomarkers and therapeutic strategies. We welcome submissions spanning solid and hematologic malignancies, from basic mechanistic studies and preclinical models to translational investigations and clinical studies, including clinical trials. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to, immune regulation and inflammation; cancer-associated fibroblasts and stromal remodeling; extracellular matrix dynamics and mechanobiology; angiogenesis and hypoxia; metabolic reprogramming and intercellular crosstalk; metastatic niches and tumor dormancy; therapy resistance; spatial and single-cell analyses; multi-omics and computational approaches; tumor-microbiome interactions; biomarker discovery and validation; and microenvironment-targeted therapies, used alone or in combination with immunotherapy, targeted therapy, chemotherapy, radiotherapy or cell-based therapies. Studies with clear biological insight, translational relevance or potential clinical impact are particularly encouraged.
